Maintaining a feminine presentation is just as vital as BEING feminine. And no, they’re not the same!

Femininity looks different for many women. While some choose jilbabs (like myself), others choose dresses (probably like you). Where some prefer voluminous hair, others opt for sleek and smooth. You get the point.

A feminine appearance isn’t one size fits all, and a woman being feminine doesn’t mean she always appears girlie or dainty. There are, however, a few basic principles we can apply AT HOME to look and feel more feminine šŸ™‚

1. Get Dressed

Yes from head to toe. You donā€™t have to (and you SHOULDNā€™T) wait for special occasions to look nice. You can and should look nice every day!
Doing (or at least taming) your hair, changing into a day dress, and putting on your apron can elevate your mood and your appearance.

2. Moisturize Your Body

This is an instant relaxation technique for me. When I take my time moisturizing after a long shower, I notice the difference not just in my skin but my attitude.

And I’ve found that pure oils do better on my dry skin (especially in winter) than lotions and body butters (and my husband notices the difference ????).

3. Wear Perfume

I have a few signature fragrances. Some are brand name, some are generic. What matters is I know my body chemistry and I know what my husband likes. Do you know what yours likes?

This also isn’t something that we should do sparingly. Perfume is not just for date nights or intimacy time. Perfume is a luxury, but one we can enjoy daily, because as women we shouldn’t just “not stink”. We should smell BLESSED.

I am an unapologetic perfume boarder, enthusiast and connoisseur.
I highly recommend anything cucumber or pomegranate, anything Marc Jacobs, and of course anything Paris Hilton.

4. Do Your Feet

And not just the toenails!!! The cuticles, the heels, the space between the toes– EVERYTHING! Really take care of your feet at least once a month, for three reasons!

  • 1. You use them EVERY DAY. Every day. They need to be kept and prioritized and loved.
  • 2. Neglected feet aren’t like neglected hands. You can get away with a broken fingernail, and still look okay. But overgrown eagle talons for feet instantly negate your feminine appearance. Because you simply look like you don’t care and your efforts are last minute.
  • 3. Foot maintenance takes careful attention, presenting an opportunity for you to have a gentle, private moment alone during which you’re intimate with your own body.

Here’s what’s in my pedicure bag: a file, basic pink polish and white polish, base coat, clear coat, cuticle dissolve, nippers, clippers, polish remover, and cuticle pushers. I also have a few more advanced tools but these are the basics I recommend.

NEVER and I do mean NEVER scrape or shave dead, hard or dry skin on your feet. It accumulates there to preserve what little moisture remains. So by scraping it off, you dry your feet out EVEN MORE, and they will start getting even harder!!!

Instead, gently scrub with warm soap and water, moisturize with Aquaphor every night, sleep in socks, and thank me in 7 days ????

5. Interact With Nature

Do you have plants? Table fountains? Pets? Take a walk, sit by the window in direct sunlight, put your feet in the grass. The earth is very feminine in itself, and has a lot of subtle sensuality to teach us if we slow down and listen.

Put away technology for an hour a day, and do something natural! Take your dog to the dog park. Or just sit on your porch with a book, or by your fireplace! I personally like to water my bamboo, crack the window when its warm, and listen to water sounds or take a walk by our lake!

The main objectives are sunlight and fresh air! Get those two daily, because it’s noticeable when you aren’t, both inwardly and outwardly! It has also been proven that even just LOOKING at nature boosts your mood, so put a naturescape video on your TV, or simply open the blinds if you’ve got a natural view.

Make no excuses to have a moment with the very soil from which you’re created!

6. Eat Something Alkaline

Alkaline is another word for alive or electrified (or lit), and it refers to something having a pH level higher than a 7.

It’s important to eat fruits and vegetables. But it’s even more important that we’re getting alkaline fruits and vegetables. Why?

Because non alkaline foods get inside our body and our bodies produce mucus in order to process them, because they are acidic. But alkaline foods NEUTRALIZE acid, and reduce mucus, which reverses inflammation.

Did you know that any disease ending in -itis means it’s an inflammatory disease? Yep, and inflammation is caused by excess mucus.

Eat your alkaline!!!

Cauliflower and broccoli are not alkaline! And all fruits should be SEEDED

I highly recommend seeded watermelon, eggplant, arugula, avocado, celery and water with seeded lime for starters!

There is nothing more feminine you can do than actually taking care of your temple! ????āœØan apple a day keeps those Babylonian doctors away!
